I want to delete Plant Characteristic of Release Strategy in Purchase Order

Hello,

I want to delete Plant characteristic of Release Strategy in Purchase Order and it is using class also with transaction data.Now i am deleting the Plant characteristic and assignment from Class but showing error there is assignment with this characteristic.Please tell me which steps should be taken for deletion of plant characteristic.
