Activation of the open item management if the GL account has balance

Dear SAP Gurus,

I would like to activate the open item management for the few GL accounts. I have gone through the so many threads related to the same but every thread is detailing about the GL accounts which has Zero balance.

But no luck for the GL accounts which has balance in them. Any help on this is really appreciated.
